- This grant awarded by counterpart to Shaiq Network helped to develop the capacity of young male and female journalists (ages 20-40) to report upon critical human right issues more effectively like domestic violence, child labor, abuse of unhoused children, human rights, the importance of education, women’s health, the environment and social responsibility and women’s education. This was accomplished through conducting practical training on journalism material including Human Rights/ Women Rights / UN conventions, basics of journalism principals, professional photography, documentary production, and the use of social media for public awareness and civic journalism. Following this, the forty participants received hand-on training on the use of media equipment in Shaiq network’s dedicated training facility, with separate space for male and female trainees. Participants completed field trips to visit working media stations. By the end of this project, trainees created their own documentaries on selected topics to participate in policy/decision making processes. Shaiq network selected twenty of the best documentaries and interviewed the filmmaker and broadcasted their documentaries. This grant awarded by counterpart to Shaiq Network helped to develop the capacity of young male and female journalists (ages 20-40) to report upon critical human right issues more effectively like domestic violence, child labor, abuse of unhoused children, human rights, the importance of education, women’s health, the environment and social responsibility and women’s education.
